PPC CEMENT
CLIENT REQUIREMENT
To provide professional services for the maintenance management of ten (10) PPC private sidings, on an ongoing basis since 2015. The sidings are situated in the Western Cape, Northern Cape, Gauteng, North West and Limpopo provinces.
PROJECT SCOPE
The sidings are situated in the Western Cape, Northern Cape, Gauteng, North West and Limpopo provinces.
- These sidings are made up of approximately 87 kilometres of track and 232 turnouts.
- The track consists of various types of rail namely 30 kg/m, 40 kg/m, 48 kg/m and 57 kg/m on either wood, steel or concrete sleepers.
- The components are between 40 to 50 years old.
Solution
R&H has been appointed to perform asset maintenance management and rehabilitation of the rail infrastructure in the various sidings, this includes putting together the 5-year strategies to maintain the track infrastructure, the material replacement and reinstatement plans.
The other deliverables on this project is for R&H to assist PPC in the procurement of the Contractor to perform the maintenance of the various sidings, to manage the contractor, plan the workload for the contractor and ensure the quality of work.
